Bush Names His Justice Choice

President George W. Bush has nominated White House lawyer Harriet Miers to be the 110th Supreme Court Justice.

Some object to the fact that Miers has never been a judge, but Bush remains confident in his choice. "I've sought to find an American of grace, judgment and unwavering devotion to the Constitution and law of our country," he said.

After Bush's announcement, Miers said, "I recognize that I will have a tremendous responsibility to keep our judicial system strong and help ensure that the courts meet their obligation to strictly apply the law and the Constitution." If she is confirmed by the Senate, Miers will be the third woman in history to become a Supreme Court Justice.
