Riding to the Rescue
On October 27, artist Lee Quiñones, 45, traded his paintbrushes for a bicycle and began the 1,500-mile ride from New York City to Miami Beach, Florida. His goal was to raise funds for 20 Boys and Girls Clubs of America that were dam-aged by Hurricane Katrina. During the 35-day journey, Quiñones kept himself going by listening to music. He rode across the finish line on November 30. More than $20,000 has been raised. Quiñones told TFK: "Kids may read about this and say, 'Wow, there are people who really care about us.' That's more powerful than money any day."
