And the Winner Is...
Just call her the $640,000 woman. American author Katherine Paterson is the winner of Sweden's Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for Literature. The award is named after the author of the Pippi Longstocking books. It is the world's biggest prize for children's literature. Paterson, the author of Bridge to Terebithia and many other books, is thrilled. "This was totally unexpected," she told TFK. "I had no idea that I was even nominated." Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria will present the award at a ceremony in Stockholm on May 31.
