5 Questions for Jamie Hyneman

1Who came up with the idea for the show?

A Our producer. He thought that people like Adam and me who made special effects for a living would be good at re-creating urban legends.

2How do you choose the topics you feature on the show?

A We want to look at things that we can actually test using science. A good myth usually has some element of truth in it.

3 Where do you get your ideas?

A We get a lot of them from people who e-mail us, books and websites.

4 Some myths turn out to be true! Any really surprising ones?

A That dynamite is good at cleaning out the inside of cement trucks. Even though it's definitely not recommended!

5 You recently came out with a kids' book about myth busting. Why did you write it?

A The show is about science, problem-solving and being creative. If kids look at what we do and develop a love of science and creative thinking, then the world will be a better place.
