A Record-Setting Sail
Mike Perham, 14, and his 28-foot boat, the Cheeky Monkey, sailed into the history books last Wednesday. The British teen became the youngest person ever to sail solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
It took Mike six weeks to complete the 3,500-mile journey. His father followed close behind in another boat. Mike received a big welcome when he reached the Caribbean island of Antigua at the end of his voyage. “It has been a fantastic journey,” Mike said after he docked. “It has been a great experience. I truly enjoyed it.”
