A Musher Follows His Dad's Trail

Rohn Buser, 17, was first to cross the finish line of Alaska's 2007 Junior Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, on February 25. Rohn and his team of 10 dogs completed the 120-mile race more than 30 minutes ahead of the second-place sled team.

Rohn's dad, Martin Buser, is a four-time Iditarod winner. He named Rohn for one of his favorite towns on the Iditarod Trail. Rohn's older brother, Nikolai, is also a musher. Rohn says he has learned from watching his dad. "It's a big advantage for me," he told TFK.

Now that the teens have had their turn, it's time for the main Iditarod race. The roughly 1,000-mile race was scheduled to start on March 3.
