Check out these wilderness survival strategies:

Stay with your group. You should never be alone.

Dress in layers.

Plan ahead. Pay attention to the weather forecast.

If you are lost, stay put. Do not try to retrace your steps.

If someone you don't know offers you a ride, ask him or her to go get law officers to help you. Never hitchhike.

Carry a survival kit that includes a flashlight, waterproof matches, dry paper, bandages, alcohol wipes and a needle and thread in a waterproof container.
