Al Roker
Al Roker knows how it feels to be the heaviest kid in class. "I've dealt with weight issues all my life," the NBC Today weatherman told TFK. And he also knows that more kids than ever are struggling with those same issues. More than 12 million children in the United States have weight problems. That's why Roker teamed up with the Food Network to produce a documentary called Childhood Obesity: Danger Zone.
You can catch the hour-long special on the Food Network this month. The program tells the stories of kids who are winning the battle of the bulge by changing the way they eat and live. "It's about making choices," says Roker. "Kids have to take control of their health."
Roker hopes that families will watch the show together. "I think lightbulbs will start going off over the kids' heads, but also over the heads of moms, dads, grandparents and teachers," he says.
