Tobacco use kills 438,000 Americans a year. It causes heart disease, lung disease and some kinds of cancer.
80% to 90% of smokers start in their teens. The average age a smoker lights up his or her first cigarette is 15.
1 in 8 middle school students and more than 1 in 4 high school kids use tobacco.
At ages 12 to 17, girls are more likely to smoke than boys.
3,900 kids tried their first cigarette today.
