David Cain

A five-foot-tall purple flower caused quite a stink in New York City last week. The rare blossom is called a "corpse flower." It is the largest, smelliest flower in the world. "(The scent) drives animals away so they don't eat it," David Cain told TFK. He grew the purple giant in a greenhouse at New York's Lehman College. "It's really, really awful." The flower, which can weigh over 100 pounds, lasts only two days. But while it blooms, it smells like rotting flesh. Pee-yew!
