Weigh to Go, Great Pumpkin!
Oregon farmer Thad Starr squashed the competition on October 8 at the World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off, in Half Moon Bay, California. His record-breaking pumpkin tipped the scales at 1,524 pounds, nearly 300 pounds heavier than the previous record setter. Starr won a $9,144 prize. That's $6 per pound. Either way, that's a lot of pumpkin pie!
