Spotlight on Jordan Carlson
Jordan Carlson, 18, knows what it's like to walk with purpose. Earlier this year, the high school senior from Mooresville, North Carolina, pledged to raise $1 million by walking in every city where a three-day Breast Cancer Walk was being held. Carlson's journey began in August in Boston, Massachusetts, and will end on November 11 in San Diego, California. Along the way, she will have walked 720 miles in 12 cities. So far, Carlson and her sponsors have raised $661,000.
When the road gets rocky, Carlson looks to her mother (below, left) for inspiration. The two-time cancer survivor has been free of the disease for seven years. "Her determination has taught me to put one foot in front of the other," Carlson told TFK.
