TV and Film Writers Strike
On November 5, TV and film writers from Los Angeles to New York City put down their pens and raised up picket signs. Members of the Writers Guild of America went on strike after failing to reach a deal with production studios. They want to be paid for writing shows offered on the Internet.
Without writers to create scripts, many shows have gone into reruns. If the strike continues, expect to see more of those.
Writers weren't the only ones on the picket lines last week. Actors and producers came out to show their support. "We're all in this together," said actor John Stamos. Writers last went on strike in 1988. That walkout lasted 22 weeks and cost the industry more than $500 million.
