Spotlight on Service
The TIME For Kids November Spotlight on Service volunteer, Colton Lockner, 10, is stepping up his support for American soldiers. Each fall, the fifth grader helps to organize a Freedom Walk in his hometown of Sebring, Ohio. Participants honor members of the U.S. military and victims of the September 11 terror attacks by completing a 1.3-mile trek around town. The walk has raised hundreds of dollars for the cause since 2006. This year, he's asking donors to let their fingers do some walking too.
In September, Colton kicked off a campaign to mail handwritten notes to soldiers who are stationed overseas. So far, the project has generated more than 1,400 postcards. "I wanted to do some-thing for my country," Colton told TFK.
"You can do anything if you put your mind to it."
