The Patriots' Perfection
The New England Patriots made football history on December 29, ending the regular NFL season undefeated with a record 16 straight wins. The team secured its spot at the top by a narrow 38-35 victory against the New York Giants. They are the first team to win every scheduled matchup of the regular season since the Miami Dolphins' 14 consecutive victories in 1972. "It's a lot of hard work," said Patriots quarterback Tom Brady about coming back against the Giants in the fourth quarter. "I'm proud of the way this team responded."
More than 34-million viewers tuned in for the historic showdown, which was the first NFL game to be broadcast simultaneously on three television networks. Now, the Patriots must win two playoff games, and the Super Bowl on February 3, to keep their season picture-perfect.
