Money Talk
EconomyThe way a country manages money and resources to produce, buy and sell goods (products) and work done for others (services).
RecessionA time when the economy is not growing. People and companies spend less money; they produce less; and fewer have jobs.
Stock MarketThe place where stocks, which are part-ownerships of companies, are bought and sold. A stock is a share, or piece, of a company that is sold to the public. People buy a stock with the hope that they can make money by selling it later for a higher price. When many stock prices fall at once, it is often a sign of a weakening economy.
Unemployment RateThe percentage of workers who don't have jobs and are seeking employment. For example, if 5 out of every 100 workers need jobs, the unemployment rate is 5%.
