For Love of the Game
In his new book, Game, Newbery Medal-winning author Walter Dean Myers introduces a black basketball player named Drew Lawson. When a new white teammate gets all of the coach's attention, Drew has to adjust. Is there a lesson there for readers? "I'm not interested in having young people learn from my books," Myers told TFK Kid Reporter Alex Woods. "I'm more interested in having them think about the issues being raised."
