Hats On to Reading!
On March 3, millions of kids around the U.S. got Seuss-ed up for Read Across America Day. The event is held by the National Education Association (NEA). Its goal is to get children of all ages excited about reading.
The celebration is held each year around March 2, in honor of author Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel's birthday. Activities include everything from gulping down green eggs and ham to holding Seuss-themed read-ins. NEA president Reg Weaver hopes the event inspires kids to read, read, read! "(It's about developing?) a lifetime of good reading habits," he says.
