A Patriotic Eagle Act

Challenger is one frequent flier! The bald eagle jets from his home at the American Eagle Foundation in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to sports arenas around the U.S. His job: flying high above the crowds and returning to his handlers as the National Anthem is played. Challenger is the only bald eagle ever trained to perform this feat. This month, he soared at New York's Yankee Stadium during the World Series. "It makes people cry and get goose-bumps," says handler Al Cecere. Cecere also brings Challenger to schools and public events to educate folks about the need to protect our national bird.
