She's Warming Feet and Hearts
Hannah Turner, 8, wants to make sure that no one in her Ohio community gets cold feet. The second grader and her family run a charity called Hannah's Socks. The organization collects new socks and gives them to the homeless. On Thanksgiving Day in 2004, Hannah helped her mom serve turkey at a local shelter. She noticed a man whose shoes were ripped, revealing his bare toes. Hannah worried his feet would be cold. She made up her mind to help. So far, Hannah's Socks has helped to warm the feet of more than 7,000 people. The new sock owners "smile and hug me," Hannah told TFK. "They call me Sock Girl."
