Award-winning author Jon Scieszka has a message for parents, teachers and librarians: Let kids read the books they enjoy!

That is why he is helping to spread the word about the Children's Choice Book Awards. The prizes go to the books that kids like best.

Nearly 15,000 kids and teens across the country have already selected this year's finalists. Now it is your turn to weigh in. From March 16 through May 3, you can vote for your favorite book, author and illustrator at bookweekonline.com. The winners in each category will be announced on May 12, during Children's Book Week.

"Kids should definitely vote," Scieszka told TFK. "This is their chance to tell us what they really want to read."
