A Nut Allergy Cure?
Nearly 2 million Americans suffer from peanut allergies. For some, even touching a peanut can cause serious problems. Scientists believe they may have found a way to treat peanut allergies. They say the key is to expose allergy sufferers to tiny amounts of the food.
Doctors tested 33 children with severe peanut allergies. The kids were given small amounts of peanut powder each day. After several months, most of the kids could eat a few peanuts before they had a reaction. Today, five of those children can eat peanuts without getting sick.
Still, the therapy is experimental. Do not try this at home! Doctors monitored the kids in the study very closely and continue to do so.
