Dear Readers

We started this school year reporting from the scene at the major political party conventions, then covering the final weeks of 2008's historic presidential race.

Now, the world is a different place. The first African-American U.S. President is in office. A worldwide economic crisis has hit hard. Scientists have discovered new species, invented amazing gadgets and intensified the search for Earthlike planets. We think it's important for you to know about these events. When it's your turn to run the world, you'll be so well prepared!

Most of you will never meet the TFK team, but we never stop thinking about you. This summer, while you have some fun and keep up with us at timeforkids.com/kids, we'll be rebuilding our magazines with you in mind. Watch for our new look and features in September. And make sure your next teacher knows about TFK too. We love having all of you as part of our world.
