New Species Discovered
A team of scientists filming a nature documentary in Papua New Guinea made an amazing discovery. The group discovered more than 30 new species of-animals in this nation in the Pacific Ocean. The creatures were all living inside the crater of an extinct volcano. Among the critters: a giant rat that measured 32 inches long and weighed more than three pounds. That makes it one of the largest rodents on Earth. Also found: 16 species of frogs, three types of fish and a species of bat. "It was mind-blowing," said George McGavin, a biologist on the team.
