Brrr...It's Cold Up There!
Scientists say they have discovered the coldest spot in our solar system. Surprisingly, it is nearby: on our moon. The cold spots are inside craters which are permanently shadowed at the moon's south pole. Temperatures measured 397ºF below zero. Although Pluto is 40 times farther from the sun than the moon is, scientists say its lowest temperatures are at least one degree warmer. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter made the discovery while making the first-ever complete temperature map of the moon.
