Mr. Potato Head Turns 50!
Kids are always told to eat their vegetables, not play with them! But in 1952, toymaker Hasbro turned this idea on its head and Mr. Potato Head was born. One year later, he met his wife, Mrs. Potato Head. The toy was originally a sack of plastic parts that kids could stick into a real potato. Plastic potatoes were introduced in 1964. Last week, the old spud turned 50, but thanks in part to his role in Toy Story movies, he still enjoys mass a-peel.
