Top 5 Most Popular Cat Breeds
Cats are the most popular pet in America. Most are mixed-breed house cats. Fancy purebreds are much rarer. The Cat Fancier's Association recognizes 35 purebred cat breeds and tracks how many Americans own. Here are their top cats.
1. Persian: 23,362 registered
2. Maine Coon: 4,485
3. Exotic: 2,321
4. Siamese: 1,986
5. Abyssinian: 1,609
