Spotlight: Bono
U2 seems to have the luck of the Irish. Even before this week's Grammy Award show, the Irish rock band already owned 10 Grammys. This year it received eight nominationsmore than any other artist or group. When he isn't busy collecting awards and singing to sold-out stadiums, lead singer Bono meets with world leaders to persuade them to improve education, health care and opportunities for trade in poor African countries. Bono, 41, is the founder of DATA (Debt, Aid, Trade for Africa). "He cares deeply about these issues and knows a lot about them," admits U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill. Bono has always included poitical messages in the songs he writes, but that's no longer enough, he says: "I'm tired of dreaming. I'm into doing, at the moment."
