Alex Wrobel, Matthias Chan and Jo Jackson built a city that's No. 1 under the sun. The students from St. Paul, Minnesota, won this year's Future City engineering competition. Matthias, 13, says they used "all sorts of stuffold CDs and plastic bottles" to make their model. The city is called Apricus, which means "a sunny place" in Latin. "The city revolves around the sun," says Jo, 13. Apricus is a clean, energy-efficient place powered by solar rays, wind and a natural fuel made from alfalfa. The city has farms and two forests. The experience has inspired Alex, 12, to become a city planner. The future certainly looks bright!
