Is It a Case of Puppy Love?
Bugsy the bulldog can't keep its paws off its new roommate, a baby chimpanzee named Kia. Kia is a bonobo, a tiny, endangered chimp. Bugsy showers Kia with kisses. Luckily, "Kia doesn't mind," says Molly Badham, Bugsy's owner. Kia was born at England's Twycross Zoo last fall. Badham, one of the zoo's directors, adopted Kia when the newborn's real mom rejected it. Kia will stay with Bugsy and Badham for about a year, until it can safely live with the other bonobos at the zoo.
