Bush Makes a Healthy Choice
On March 26, President Bush nominated Dr. Richard Carmona to serve as U.S. Surgeon General, the nation's top doctor. Bush joked that Carmona may not be "the best guy to educate Americans about reducing health risks." The Arizona surgeon is a risk taker. He once dangled from a helicopter to rescue someone! Carmona, who was the first person in his family to graduate from college, thanked the President in both English and Spanish. "You have enabled me to appreciate the American dream," he said.
