Music from the Heart
Playing piano at her folks' Chinese restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado, earns Amanda Hu, 13, a small fortune. In December, she bought her school a new piano with almost $4,000 in tips. Amanda got the idea in 2000 after playing her school's crummy, old piano. What's the key to Amanda's success? Her piano teacher helped her record a CD, which she sells for $10. Now Amanda is singing a happy tune. The new piano is "a lot better," she says. "You can actually hear notes." Amanda now puts all her tips into a college fund!
