She Is the Strongest Woman in America!

Last month, Cheryl Haworth, 19, won her fifth straight national weightlifting championship. Haworth muscled her way to the top of the 165-pound-plus competition by lifting 264 pounds in the "snatch" event and 330 pounds in the "clean and jerk." The Olympic bronze medalist from Savannah, Georgia, holds all national records for her weight class. In June, she will compete at the junior world championships in Nepal. After that, she'll juggle college and weightlifting as she trains for the 2004 Olympics.
