A Sad Loss for the Senate
A tragic event rocked the political world last Friday. U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone, 58, Democrat of Minnesota, died in a plane crash with his wife, daughter and five others. The former college professor had been in a tight race for reelection. Last week, Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota called Wellstone the "soul of the Senate." Minnesota's Democrats plan to name a new candidate for the upcoming election.
