Top 5 Biggest Flightless Birds
No wonder these birds don't fly--they're too big to get off the ground! Antarctica's emperor penguin, for instance, weighs about 100 pounds. But it's a lightweight compared to the ostrich, the world's biggest bird. Weighing nearly 350 pounds, the average adult ostrich stands more than 8 feet tall--taller than the most towering NBA player. Too bad it can't shoot!
1. Ostrich 343 lbs.
2. Northern cassowary 127 lbs.
3. Emu 121 lbs.
4. Emperor penguin 101 lbs.
5. Greater rhea 55 lbs.
