Be Our Guest, Big Guy
It was their last resort! For two weeks, workers from a dolphin hospital in Key Largo, Florida, visited a hotel swimming pool to treat a sick whale. KOKOMO, a 1,200-pound pygmy sperm whale, had been moved to the pool at the Islander Resort hotel in Islamorada after being rescued by the Coast Guard. It's the only heated seawater pool in the area. Although he's still weak, "he's beaten a lot of odds," says the hospital's Rick Trout. Last week, Kokomo was moved to the hospital's lagoon.
