A Woman on the Men's Turf

Last year, golfer Annika Sorenstam, 32, shattered the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour scoring record. It was one of 20 LPGA records she set or tied in 2002. Now the Swedish pro will take a swing at the guys. Last week, she accepted an invitation to play on the PGA Tour against men!

Sorenstam will compete at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, May 22-25. She will be the first woman to compete on the PGA Tour in 58 years. "I am curious to see if I can compete in a PGA Tour event," she says.

So is PGA champ Tiger Woods. Sorenstam has won more tournaments in the last two seasons than Woods has. "It's great she's playing," says Woods, "but it will only be great for women's golf if she plays well."
