Man Against Machine
Who plays a smarter game of chess: humans or computers? It's a stalemate. In a Man vs. Machine face-off, world chess champion GARRY KASPAROV and IBM supercomputer Deep Junior battled it out for 12 days. But the final match ended on February 7 in a draw, or tie. Kasparov, considered by many to be the best player ever, isn't upset. The last time he played a computer, in 1997, he lost. "I had one item on my agenda--not to lose!"
