Oh, Boi! What a Gr8 T-shirt
Avril Lavigne has made things a little complicated for Wilkesboro Elementary School, in North Carolina. But the students don't mind! The Canadian pop singer wore the school's T-shirt in the music video for her song "Sk8ter Boi." Ever since, orders for the tee have been rock-n-rolling in.
Marcia Reynolds, of Wilkesboro's Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), has received orders from as far away as Japan and Israel! "I get about 300 e-mails a day," she says. Each time an order arrives, students mark its city of origin on a world map.
As of last week, the school had made $12,000 selling the $20 shirts. The PTO plans to use the money to buy computers and other equipment.
Reynolds's son Rex, 10, says he wouldn't sell his bright-green school shirt for any price. "At first, I thought Avril was just another singer," Rex told TFK, "but when I found out she wore our shirt, she really stood out!"
