Hilary Duff, Rising Star
CLAIM TO FAME: She's the star of Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel and The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which opens May 2 in theaters nationwide. For more on Hilary, go to timeforkids.com/hilary
Q
Why do you think the Lizzie McGuire character is so popular
with viewers?
A
Lizzie's really insecure. She's not comfortable with herself. I
think that's also why so many people relate to the show: She's
just trying to find herself, like any other 14-or 15-year-old
girl.
Q
Lizzie sometimes appears as a cartoon character. How does it
feel to see yourself animated?
A
Weird, but sometimes I feel (I'm) more like my cartoon
character than like Lizzie. My cartoon character is a little more
edgy and snappy.
Q
In the film, Lizzie gets mistaken for a singer. Have you ever
taken voice lessons?
A
Yeah. I started just two years ago. I never knew I could sing,
but I kind of found my voice.
Q
What's your favorite school subject?
A
I like math. It's a challenge. I like to read too.
Q
What's the best gift you have ever received?
A
Since I've gotten older, presents aren't that important. Now,
it's just really important that I'm home with my family.
