Meet the New Marathon Man
PAUL TERGAT, 34, made a run for the marathon world record--and smashed it! On September 28, Tergat finished Germany's Berlin Marathon in 2 hours, 4 minutes and 55 seconds. He beat the old record by 43 seconds. The Kenyan runner has two Olympic medals, but says, "This time, I wanted to try for the record. I'm happy." She just celebrated her 116th birthday! And she is a national star. Last year, Hongo was named an honorary hero in her hometown.
