Spotlight: Sasha Cohen

Taking second place is not so bad, especially when you're competing against your role model. Skating newcomer Sasha Cohen, 15, won the silver medal in the ladies U.S. Figure Skating championship on February 12. She came in a close second to one of her heroes, Michelle Kwan, who won the gold for the third time in a row. "She's a wonderful skater with tremendous poise," Sasha told TFK. When Sasha was 7, a friend suggested that she try skating, and she hasn't left the ice since! By the time she was 11, Sasha was landing difficult double jumps. But skating is not her whole life. "I'm an ordinary kid who likes to go to the movies," she says. Her dream is to be a fashion designer. She already designs her own cool skating outfits!
