Clinton's Call to Action

It was the longest State of the Union address in history--89 minutes! President Clinton laid out his plans for his final year in office last Thursday, including a "revolution in education."

"Education is more important than ever, more than ever the key to our children's future," he said. "We must make sure all our children have that key."

He urged Congress to approve funding for all classrooms to be connected to the Internet. He also said everyone should have a chance to go to college. "To make the American dream achievable for all, we must make college affordable for all," he said.

Clinton also proposed tougher gun laws, more spending on health care, and tax cuts. But his toughest task this year will be getting Congress to support his big plans.
