TFK Q & A

WHO: Michelle Trachtenberg

CLAIM TO FAME: She used to battle evil on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now, the 18-year-old actress is taking kids on spooky adventures in her own TV show, Truth or Scare, on Discovery Kids. Her mission: To get the real facts behind ghost stories.

Q How did you get started in acting?

A When I was 3 years old, my mom knew of a manager in New York City. I did a Whisk detergent commercial, where I spilled cranberry juice on my father. I ended up doing more than 100 commercials.

Q Tell us about Truth or Scare.

A The show is not meant to frighten kids, but to teach them about scary stuff. Everything on the show is based completely in fact and researched.

Q What is the spookiest thing that you learned while doing the show?

A I had always kind of believed in ghosts. There are just way too many creepy stories and too many eye-witness spottings. I've also learned that the dark is a scary place, but once you turn the light on, you can get through it.

Q Do you believe in vampires?

A Well, I think there is something out there that goes bump in the night. Around Halloween, the unpredictable is what's most exciting.
