A Young Star Turns Pro
Now here's a kid who can keep up with the big boys! Last month, FREDDY ADU, 14, signed with D.C. United, a major-league soccer team. If he makes it into the lineup next spring, he will become the youngest person to play in a major U.S. sports league since 1887. That's when 14-year-old Fred Chapman played Major League Baseball. "If you're good enough, you're old enough," says Freddy, who turned down offers from top teams in Europe so he could stay at home. "If you feel like you're ready to go, hey, give it a shot."
