Spotlight: Kevin Incikaya
Taking out the trash is never a chore for Kevin Incikaya, 9. In fact, Kevin is a litter lover! Since age 2, he has joined trash crews on their rounds in Sierra Madre, California. "I just like watching trash trucks," says the toy-truck collector.
Now Kevin is putting his passion for trash to use--with the help of some wiggly worms. He runs a worm farm. He feeds his worms food scraps and then records their eating habits. He plans to submit the results of his squiggly study for use in a waste-management report. It's a test to see if two California cities should use worms to help reduce the amount of food scraps that end up in their crowded landfills. Kevin digs his work: "The worms are fun to play with!"
