This Royal Is Roughing It
He’s a young prince who grew up surrounded by luxury, waited on hand and foot. One day he will be King of Britain. But for now Prince William, 18, is in the South American countryside sleeping in a tent he pitched himself. The son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana is taking a year off to travel and work as a volunteer before starting college in Scotland next fall. He’s roughing it on a farm in Chile, where he is helping build a home for elderly people and a hall for the volunteer fire department. No one’s waiting on him now! Says Patricia Pavez, organizer of the expedition: "He even has to cook for himself."
