TFK Q&A
WHO: Spot Helperman
CLAIM TO FAME: This cartoon dog talks, reads and recites poetry. Oh, and one more thing: He wants desperately to be a boy! He stars in the new film Teacher's Pet. For more, go to timeforkids.com/spot.
Q: In your movie, you're quite a clever dog. How did you learn to talk, read and quote Shakespeare?
A: All the dogs can do that stuff. I'm just the one who got found out. I know a dog who discovered a cure for the common cold.
Q: You fooled everyone at school by pretending to be a fourth-grade boy for an entire year. What is it like to be the teacher's pet?
A: It's both an honor and a burden. I like being the only kid on the playground who can catch a Frisbee in his mouth.
Q: How would you compare life as dog with life as a boy?
A: Boys don't get fleas. But dogs don't get head lice. It's pretty much a toss-up.
Q: What is the best thing about being a dog?
A: You get to love, lick and be happy all day long.
Q: Why are dogs called man's best friend? Are other animals jealous?
A: They should be jealous. We are superior in every way. Man is the second-smartest animal around, and that's why he had the brains to make us his best friends.
