Grandma Inspired Him!
Since he won his first science fair in sixth grade, Herbert Mason Hedberg, 17, has come a long way. On March 16, Herbert won the top prize, a $100,000 college scholarship, at the Intel Science Talent Search. His research focused on new tools in the fight against cancer. Herbert started studying the disease while his grandmother was under-going cancer treatment. "My grandma is really special. She inspired me in this project, and it was great to have her there when I won," he told TFK.
