Building a Reputation
On March 21, Iraqi-born architect Zaha Hadid won the Pritzker Architecture Prize, her profession's highest honor. Hadid, 53, is the first woman to receive the prize in its 26-year history. At first, her unique building designs remained unbuilt. "There was not any work like that being done," she says. Hadid, who lives in England, is now juggling major projects in the United States, Germany and Italy.
